Focke-Wulf Fw190F-8/U-1 ‘584219 / 38’ por Hawkeye UK
Built 1944 as a single-seat F-8, but converted in Poland to a two-seater. Surrendered at Grove, Denmark in May 1945, she was allocated Air Ministry No 29 and was flown to Farnborough in September 1945. By May 1946 it was selected for preservation and initially stored at Wroughton. By 1961 she was stored at RAF Henlow, but made occasional static appearances at shows and events. In 1970 she moved to RAF St Athan and joined the Historic Aircraft Collection there. Restored there, the engine was returned to running condition by 1984 and was regularly demonstrated at open days. When the collection was disbanded, the aeroplane moved to Hendon and remains on display in the Bomber Command Hall.
