The Bent Pyramid
"Distinct against the horizon, the Bent Pyramid at Dahshur is an ancient reminder that not all pyramids were perfect.
Pharaoh Sneferu commissioned its construction sometime around c.2600 BC. The structure was clearly altered during construction as the angle of its sides change towards the peak.
The reason for this alternation may have been because the engineers were concerned with structural stability and took the decision to change the angle half way through construction.
Another hypothesis suggests that Sneferu was nearing death at the time so, to hasten the process, the pyramid was changed so it could be completed before he died.
Besides it’s unique sides, the Bent Pyramid has the distinction of being the only pyramid in Egypt that has its outer polished limestone casing mostly still intact.
Sneferu was a lover of pyramid building. He built a total of three pyramids during his reign - more than any other pharaoh."
